About Us

In the early 2000s, Impact Engine assembled a cutting-edge team of designers, software engineers, and product visionaries. This core group identified a critical market gap: the inability of digital advertisers to rapidly and inexpensively generate, distribute, and update rich media display ad campaigns in a bandwidth constrained environment. Through close collaboration, the inaugural version of the Impact Engine Online Display Ad Platform was launched in 2006 to bridge this divide, swiftly achieving widespread adoption among major digital agencies and local media publishers alike.

ImpactEngine.com quickly became the cornerstone platform that media organizations relied upon to create and sell high-margin, hosted rich media display ads.  Leveraging our deep expertise in online media and software, we supported media companies globally, serving as both a trusted vendor and advisor. We took pride in helping local media outlets and groups of all sizes - whether small digital teams, centralized ad hubs, digital agencies, or large-scale outsourced production facilities - launch and grow their rich media ad businesses.

Unfortunately, soon after our market entry, widespread infringement of our patented systems and methods began. Despite proudly serving our dedicated customer base for over a decade and a half, relentless infringement by online advertising giants eventually forced us to discontinue the Impact Engine ad platform.

Today, Impact Engine remains committed to expanding and monetizing its robust intellectual property portfolio. We remain resolute in protecting the enduring value of our innovations and the integrity of the U.S. patent system.

Leadership

Upon graduating from Washington & Lee University in 1997 with a degree in Economics, Bryan started his career working for a Washington D.C. based commercial real estate development firm. Soon after, he re-located to San Diego to join the Land Services Division of Grubb & Ellis, becoming head of the Division in less than three years.

After several years in real estate, Bryan Depew shifted gears and joined the online advertising industry; first by consulting with advertising startups interested in addressing the real estate market and then by co-founding Impact Engine, Inc.

As one of the founders, Bryan was an essential member of the team that secured equity financing for the business and formed the vision for its media platform.

At Impact Engine, Bryan leads and manages company operations and intellectual property monetization strategy. His leadership played a pivotal role in managing the Impact Engine v. Google lawsuit through Federal Circuit and Supreme Court appeals, securing favorable §101 rulings while overseeing the addition of eight new patents to the Impact Engine IP portfolio.

Prior to becoming CEO, Bryan headed the Company's Product Development Team for over a decade, creating and commercializing three unique software platforms from inception to scale. He is the named co-inventor on 15 seminal US Patents directed to Programmatic Creative advertising.

Bryan is a former NCAA lacrosse player and an avid surfer. He is a native of Maryland and now resides in San Diego with his wife and four children.
